According to botany, the tomato is a fruit, but in the culinary field it is used as a vegetable. Its curves and bright red can be very difficult to achieve if you don’t do it well. As with any cultivated plant, you need to get to know the soil you want to grow in. Once this is done, you need to get to know the needs. A good location is important for the tomato, but so is watering and adding fertilizer.

However, this happens very differently than usual. So you have to follow some rules. You can entrust the growth of your red balls to a professional grower who comes by from time to time or do it yourself. If you do it yourself, you need to know how to grow beautiful tomatoes but also what different natural fertilizers you can use.

How do you get wonderfully juicy tomatoes?

It all depends on how you prune your foliage, but also how much water you use for watering each time and how often.

The size

It must depend on the variety of your tomatoes.  In case you don’t know, there are different types of tomatoes:

  • round
  • extended
  • Cherries…

Depending on what you have in front of you, you don’t need to make the same size. For example, plants with indeterminate growth do not need to be pruned. If you need to prune, be sure to remove all shoots and overgrown leaves. Also remember to prune the branches to prevent flowers from appearing.

irrigation

Remember to do this often as you don’t want your tomatoes to run out of water. However,  the foliage should under no circumstances be watered  . The water should only touch the stem. If you get the foliage wet, you run the risk of developing fungus that will cause your plants to die.

Irrigation frequency

It changes as it grows. At the very beginning you need to water a lot, after a certain time watering should be less frequent. Be very careful during this watering period so that your tomatoes do not drown or become thirsty.

Excessive watering can harm you.

Therefore, when purchasing, ask questions to find out the variety and thus determine the growth cycle.

Natural fertilizers to add to the base of your tomatoes

There are a variety of fertilizers you can use, but we will only introduce you to 7 here.

fertilize

It’s perfect before you start planting. It prepares the soil by providing it with the nutrients essential for the growth of small plants.

Composite

You must surely know or have heard about it. You can add something or make your own.  All you have to do is combine all your food waste  . Once your soil is prepared and you are ready to plant, add compost.

Brennnesselmist

It is one of the most famous green manures because it is easy to produce and very effective.  It is rich in nitrogen  . To prepare it you need nettle leaves, which you can soak in water. You will know your mixture is ready when you no longer see any bubbles. If you have other weeds like comfrey, you can also use it in manure.

Eggshells

You have the habit of throwing them away after you break them and well, you are making a big mistake when you have a garden.  Eggshells are rich in calcium.  You can make a powder from the shells and mix it with the soil.

wood ash

They are rich in potassium and phosphorus  . Collect your ashes and wait for a heavy rain. The rain allows them to penetrate the ground easily.

The coffee grounds

This earth-colored powder is rich in nitrogen.  It increases the acid concentration of the soil  . This can be very useful for the quality of your tomatoes.

Backpulver

It may surprise you, but  it is an ingredient that is very rich in calcium  and, like coffee grounds, helps increase the acidity of your soil.
