Here is a simple recipe for making your own fertilizer using these ingredients.

Fertilizer recipe using coffee grounds and potato peelings for orchids:

Ingredients:

  • Used and dried coffee grounds
  • Dried and grated potato peels
  • Filtered water

Instructions:

  1. Preparation of coffee grounds and potato peelings:
    • Collect the coffee grounds from your coffee maker after use. Lay them out on a clean surface and let them air dry for a few days until completely dry.
    • Likewise, collect the potato peels and let them air dry until they are completely dehydrated. Then cut them into small pieces using a blender or coffee grinder.
  2. Fertilizer preparation:
    • In a clean container, mix equal amounts of dry coffee grounds and grated potato skins.
    • Add filtered water to the mixture of coffee grounds and potato peels to create a thick paste. Mix well until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Fertilizer application:
    • Use this mixture as a liquid fertilizer for your orchids. Dilute a small amount of paste in clean water at the rate of one part fertilizer to four or five parts water.
    • Water your orchids with this fertilizer mixture once a month during the growing season (usually late spring through fall). Be careful not to saturate the substrate and avoid applying fertilizer to the leaves or flowers to avoid the risk of burns.
