Growing healthy roots and leaves for orchids can be facilitated by a simple yet effective method—placing orchid leaves in a glass of water. This process promotes the development of new, robust roots and leaves. Here’s how you can successfully carry out this technique:

Orchid leaves
  1. Clear the soil around the orchid and trim any damaged roots from the leaves.
  2. Disinfect the leaves by using a small crushed garlic clove mixed with half a liter of water. Filter out the chopped garlic and apply the solution to the leaves using a cotton pad.

Immersing in Water: 3. Submerge the orchid roots in a glass of water with the previously prepared garlic water for 30 minutes.

  1. Dry the plant and place it upside down in a plastic glass. Create holes in the upper part of the glass to allow the plant to breathe, and these holes also aid in retaining moisture at the base.

Watering: 5. Add tap water to the glass, covering only the initial part of the leaves. Do not fill the glass completely. Close it with another glass and leave the plant in this state for 45 days.

Results After 45 Days: 6. During this period, the roots will grow significantly stronger. To maintain their health, spray tap water on the roots every 3 days.

After another 75 days, the roots will have become healthy and robust.

Transplanting: 8. Transplant the orchid into a new pot, using pine bark as a base. Before transplanting, water the plant and soak it in the remaining garlic water for 30 minutes.

Why This Method Works: This method is effective in stimulating root growth and preventing diseases. Soaking the leaves in water and using garlic as a natural disinfectant aids in creating a healthier environment for the orchid. Placing the plant in a glass with holes promotes airflow and retains the necessary humidity for growth.
