ingredients
180g butter, softened
180g sugar
3 eggs
180g flour
1/2 sachet baking powder
1 tbsp cinnamon
80g walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds, chopped or ground
3 large apples
icing sugar
lemon juice
Method
First wash the apples, peel them, core them, cut them into cubes and sprinkle them with a little lemon juice.
Beat the butter and sugar until frothy, then gradually add the eggs while continuing to beat.
Separately. Mix the flour with the cinnamon and baking powder and add to the egg mixture.
Add the apples and walnuts and pour the mixture into a 24cm baking tin (lined with baking paper) or a cake tin (buttered and floured).
Bake at 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat for 50-60 minutes until golden brown. (In the oven with microwave function: 170 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat plus 180 watt microwave, baking time 25-30 minutes).
Allow the cake to cool well and sprinkle with icing sugar shortly before serving.
The cake is moist and not too sweet.
It is very popular with family and friends and has been baked for years, especially in autumn it is ideal!
IMPORTANT: The ingredients can vary according to your tastes: instead of walnuts you can use gingerbread, almonds or hazelnuts, chopped for a crunchier bite or ground if you want it to be quicker.

Tips:
Choose firm apples: Use high-quality, firm apples for the best flavour and texture in your cake. Varieties such as Golden Delicious work very well.
Adjust the amount of sugar: If you prefer a less sweet cake, you can reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe or try using natural sweeteners such as coconut sugar or maple syrup.
Make sure you mix well: When you fold the dry ingredients into the egg and butter mixture, it is important to mix them well to ensure a smooth, lump-free mixture.
Pan size: Use a 9.5 inch (24cm) pan to ensure the cake has the right consistency. If you use a smaller pan, you may need to adjust the baking time.
Check for doneness: Before removing the cake from the oven, check that it is fully cooked by inserting a skewer into the centre. If it comes out clean, the cake is done.
Cool properly: Allow the cake to cool completely before removing it from the pan or cutting into it. This helps the structure to set and the flavour to fully develop.
Experiment with ingredients: Feel free to try different types of nuts or spices to adapt the flavor of the cake to your preferences.
Storage: You can store the cake in the refrigerator in an airtight container so that it retains its freshness and flavor for several days.
With these tips you will be ready to prepare a delicious and successful apple and walnut cake that everyone will love. Enjoy your creation and share it with your loved ones!
