Basil Scented Oil

INGREDIENTS

  • Extra virgin olive oil to taste:
  • Coarse salt to taste;
  • Fresh basil to taste

STEP

  • First of all, collect the basil before preparation;
  • Wash the basil in plenty of water, remove any traces of soil and dry by dabbing gently with absorbent paper;
  • Take the jars, which we previously sterilized, a very important step:
  • Now pour a spoonful of coarse salt on the bottom of the jar;
  • After that we add the basil leaves, pressing them well, then more coarse salt:
  • Fill the jar with extra virgin olive oil until all the contents are submerged and making sure to let any air bubbles escape;
  • We put our jar in a dark pantry until we need to use it;
  • …it was quick and easy, right?

NOTE

  1. Basil scented oil can be kept for a long time;
  2. I remind you that the basil leaves must always remain covered by the oil, so as the oil level drops, add more until it covers the leaves remaining in the jar.
