There’s nothing more satisfying and pleasant than a clean and fragrant home. However, sometimes, despite cleaning all surfaces in the kitchen or bathroom, a rather unpleasant odor can persist.
In most cases, this bad smell is caused by a buildup of residue in the sink drain , sometimes so large that it clogs the pipes and prevents the water from draining away.
Fortunately, in less serious cases, it is possible to use simple tricks not only to clear blockages in drains and pipes , but also to eliminate bad odors in just a few minutes.
Below we suggest an effective DIY trick that will help you keep your drain and pipes clean quickly and easily without using chemicals or calling the plumber.
You need:
- Half a glass of baking soda
- Half a glass of vinegar
Pour the baking soda into the sink, making sure a large amount goes down the drain. Then add the vinegar, which will create a fizzing effect when it comes into contact with the baking soda.
At this point, you can clean the inside of the sink with a sponge: the combination of vinegar and bicarbonate removes dirt very effectively, disinfects, and makes the metal shine.
After about 5 minutes, pour plenty of hot water into the sink to rinse and remove all residues and bad odors.
To prevent the accumulation of food scraps or other residues in the sink drain, we recommend that you use this trick regularly without waiting for a bad smell to develop or, worse, the drain to become clogged.
With this trick we can find an effective and ecological solution to bad smells coming from the sink at home.
