Mold often occurs in places where there is a lot of humidity or water flow and there is not enough ventilation, such as washing machines.

For those who are unsure, the smell is very similar to that of wet clothes that have been left in the washing machine for a long time.

Humidity in the air brings mold into the home. The most likely places at risk of condensation are the bathroom, where condensation is common, basements, and attics. It can also be found on walls, in closets, or in basements.

Removing mold is essential if we don’t want the problem to worsen or endanger our health.

What risks do we face with mold in the house?

Our health can be seriously compromised if we don’t intervene immediately when we notice mold in our home. Sometimes we notice it through sneezing. If we smell the smell of mold in the air, it means the spores have attacked surfaces suitable for growth. It’s best to look for dark spots and stains, as these must be removed as soon as possible to prevent the spread.

These are health risks if the spores have already infected surfaces:

Allergies: In most cases, spores cause inflammation of the respiratory tract and allergies.

Asthma.

Conjunctivitis: This is characterized by red, swollen eyelids and profuse tearing.

Fatigue: i.e. joint pain and muscle stiffness, feeling tired, exhausted and weak.

Dermatitis: Skin problems such as peeling, rash and itching.

Difficulty concentrating: Mold can potentially have negative effects on memory, dizziness, and headaches.

No to bleaching

The first thing people usually want to do is use bleach. But it’s wrong, and the reason is simple. Although bleach is used for many household tasks, it’s not the most suitable product for mold removal because it doesn’t work deep. This would only result in a superficial cleaning of the affected surfaces and leave the spores behind anyway. And the mold will reappear after a short time. Bleach works well on non-porous surfaces, such as tiles, etc. We avoid using it on porous and delicate surfaces like stucco, wood, granite, and marble. Not only will we not perform a deep cleaning, but because it’s a chemical product, you only risk damaging the surfaces beyond repair.

Here’s what you should use to remove mold from walls and other surfaces.

White vinegar against mold in the house

Easy-to-use bleaches aren’t so infallible when it comes to mold in the house. There’s a completely natural and therefore safe ingredient that can remove it effortlessly.

This is white vinegar. To clean surfaces with vinegar, you need to add baking soda and lemon juice. All three should be boiled together to create a mixture that works great as an odor neutralizer.

To remove mold, we rub this paste onto the affected surfaces, such as the shower or bathtub. You can also spray vinegar onto the surfaces to be treated. Remember to let the room air out well after treatment.

Like baking soda, white vinegar has disinfectant and degreasing properties. Simply mix with water and treat the affected areas. Remember, however, that it’s important to allow fresh air to circulate after using these products, even if they’re natural.

Baking soda, vinegar, and lemon are completely organic and safe to use, both for our health and the environment. However, if they don’t solve the mold problem quickly, it’s advisable to call a specialist.
