Also this year, the Dirty Dozen was published:  EWG , an acronym for Environmental Working Group, an American non-profit organization that works to protect the environment,  created the ranking of fruits and vegetables to determine the amount of pesticides present.

Strawberries  took the gold medal,  taking first place in the 2023 Dirty Dozen . Unfortunately, when they come from traditional and non-organic crops, they are treated with chemical additives that naturally tend to absorb like sponges.

In fact, we must remember that they do not have protective skin, so nothing protects them from the attack of parasites or toxic substances.

However, it’s impossible to do without them: They contain  potassium, manganese, folic acid, vitamin  C  , and antioxidants, which are very beneficial for heart and skin health. In short, they’re a panacea for the body.

There’s only one solution: wash thoroughly! Sure! But how can you be sure you’ve removed all contaminant residue? Can we explain it to you?

Always wash strawberries before eating. Don’t do it in advance! Even if you dry them thoroughly, the moisture will accelerate rotting.

That is, there are at least 3 processes  to eliminate pesticides where they are present  (we can only be sure that they are not present by buying organic products or growing them ourselves!),  there are at least <>.

The first involves using  water  and  salt:  Dissolve a teaspoon in a warm cup and let it cool completely, then soak the strawberries for two minutes and then rinse them under the tap. This solution can also be used to rid them of mosquitoes and insects.

But that’s not the only option: You can also make a mixture of  red wine  and  vinegar.  Dilute a glass of water in two parts and let them stand for about ten minutes. The slightly alcoholic acid solution completely eliminates the presence of toxic substances.

Finally, there’s also a method for washing  strawberries with water and  baking soda : one tablespoon is enough for every liter of water . Place the strawberries in a bowl and let them sit for about 15 minutes. Then rinse them one by one, removing the stems only after they’re dry!

Remember that none of these surgeries are a waste of time, but an investment in your health!
