How to clean your shutters so they look like new

Shutters are essential decorative elements in a home. They provide privacy, regulate light, and contribute to the aesthetics of both exterior and interior spaces.

However, shutters are among the most frequently soiled elements in the home and therefore require regular cleaning. Below, we explain how to quickly clean roller shutters.

The best and easiest way to clean shutters is to use warm water and soap.

To clean shutters, regardless of the material, you’ll need a microfiber cloth, a brush, liquid soap, warm water, and baking soda.
Before you start washing the shutters, you’ll need to close them and remove all dust with a brush. Alternatively, you can use a microfiber cloth or, if possible, a vacuum cleaner.

Here’s how to clean each type of roller shutter: plastic, aluminum, wood, PVC…
Plastic. If they can be disassembled, it’s best to take them into the bathroom and wash them thoroughly with warm water and soap.
Drinking. To wash them, you can use a mixture of two equal parts water and vinegar. Avoid chemicals, as these can be very aggressive.
Aluminum. They can be cleaned like plastic parts, taking care to ensure they don’t rust.
