Maintaining humidity and strong roots

Maintaining proper humidity is crucial for lush leaves and strong roots in orchids. Regular watering is important, but the type of water and additives you use can make a significant difference.

Organic beetroot fertilizer

Beetroot contains numerous nutrients that can promote flowering and accelerate plant growth.

Ingredients  :

  • 1 Rote Bete (30g)
  • 1 liter of water

Procedure  :

  • Slice the beets and place them in a blender.
  • Add a liter of water and mix.
  • Strain the mixture through a coarse sieve.

Use this beetroot solution to gently wipe both sides of the orchid leaves with a cotton swab. Then pour the remaining solution into a spray bottle and mist the orchid before drying it with a cloth. Apply this fertilizer to the roots once a month, making sure to allow excess fluid to drain away.

Rice water fertilizer

Rice water is another excellent option for orchid care.

Ingredients  :

  • 5 tablespoons rice
  • 500 ml water at room temperature
  • cotton swab

Procedure  :

  • Soak the rice in a bowl covered with water.
  • Stir by hand and then strain through a coarse sieve.
  • Clean the orchid leaves with a cotton swab dipped in rice water.

This method removes germs and even insects while providing important nutrients. Repeat the process after 2 weeks. You can also spray the leaves with rice water, making sure to cover both the top and bottom. Soak the orchid in rice water for about an hour to allow the roots to absorb most of the nutrients, then drain the excess water. Repeat this fertilization every 14 days.

Freeze rice water conveniently

Freeze rice water in cubes for easier use. If necessary, thaw to room temperature before applying.

Note  : Never add frozen rice water directly to the orchid as it is sensitive to cold.
