Economical, edible, non-toxic and biodegradable – we can’t fault baking powder, a product that we find hard to do without. And for good reason: this white powder has many uses, from the kitchen to cleaning and gardening.

– Keep the animals away

To get rid of the insects that ravage your garden, baking soda is your best ally. Forgo chemical pesticides that are harmful to your health and the environment and prefer this more ecological white powder. To do this, mix in a spray bottle a liter of water, a tablespoon of olive oil, two tablespoons of baking soda and a few drops of liquid soap. Spray your garden with this mixture every three days to repel insects.

– Get rid of ants

Is your garden and house infested with ants? Don’t panic. Mix five teaspoons of baking soda with five teaspoons of powdered sugar and one tablespoon of water. Look for anthills and pour this mixture over them. You will say goodbye to annoying ants.

– Put an end to the worms

Cabbage worms can be a problem and prevent your vegetables from growing healthily. To get rid of them, simply mix equal parts flour and baking soda and sprinkle this mixture on the crops. You won’t see the worms again anytime soon.

– Clean the garden decoration

You all know the benefits of using baking soda to clean your kitchen or bathroom. And your garden can also benefit from its cleaning power. All you have to do is sprinkle the white powder on all the decorative items in your garden and then wipe them down with a damp cloth.

– Wipe the leaves of the plants

Whether they are indoor or outdoor plants  , they always need to be pampered.  To give them a beauty session, you can wipe their leaves with a mixture of water and baking soda. They will give them a healthy and shiny appearance.

– Improve the taste of the vegetable garden

If you’re interested in organic farming, baking soda will help you grow healthier and tastier vegetables. And for good reason: take tomatoes as an example and sprinkle a little baking soda on the soil: they grow in less acidic soil and are therefore juicier and sweeter.

– Water the flowers

To water the flowers in your garden, don’t hesitate to add some baking soda to your watering can. You will notice that your flowers are shinier and healthier afterwards.

– Increase the lifespan of flowers

If you like to have roses or bouquets of flowers in your home to enjoy their scent, you can improve their appearance and extend their life by placing them in a vase of water with a pinch of salt and baking soda

– Eliminate fungi and mold

High humidity can cause fungal infections on plants. Baking soda is known for its fungicidal properties and helps fight mold. A   study   has also shown its effect on yeasts, dermatophytes and molds. Simply spray water with baking soda on the infected areas.

– Get rid of weeds

Weeds often nest in the cracks of your garden path. To remedy this, simply moisten the area with a thick paste of baking soda and you’re done. Say goodbye to weeds that make your garden look neglected.
