Ingredients

  • Double Crust Pie Dough
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 6 – 7 cups green apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg white
  • Brown sugar and cinnamon optional
  • Vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce optional.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • In a bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Add sliced ​​apples and lemon juice.
  • Roll out half of the dough and place it in a pie pan. Pour the apple filling and distribute the butter in small pieces over the surface.
  • Cover with the second half of the dough, sealing the edges. Make small cuts on the top to let the steam escape.
  • Brush with egg white and, if desired, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
