Christmas Cake: The Cake That Tastes and Smells Like Christmas!


Ingredients

  • 200 g of 00 flour 
  • 150 g of brown sugar 
  • 100 g of soft butter 
  • eggs 
  • 100 ml of milk 
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder 
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • Grated zest of 1 orange 
  • 150 g dark chocolate chips 
  • 50 g chopped walnuts ( optional)
  • Powdered sugar for decoration

Instructions

  • Preparation of ingredients:
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
    • Butter and flour a cake pan.
  • Preparation of the dough:
    • In a large bowl, beat the soft butter with the brown sugar until fluffy.
    • Add the eggs , one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
    • Add the vanilla extract and grated orange zest .
  • Incorporation of dry ingredients:
    • In another bowl, sift the 00 flour , baking powder , cinnamon , nutmeg and ginger .
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the milk , starting and ending with the flour.
  • Adding extras:
    • Add the dark chocolate chips and, if desired, the chopped walnuts .
  • Cooking:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and level the surface.
    • Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cooling and decoration:
    • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
    • Once cooled, sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
