Christmas Cake: The Cake That Tastes and Smells Like Christmas!
Ingredients
- 200 g of 00 flour
- 150 g of brown sugar
- 100 g of soft butter
- 3 eggs
- 100 ml of milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Grated zest of 1 orange
- 150 g dark chocolate chips
- 50 g chopped walnuts ( optional)
- Powdered sugar for decoration
Instructions
- Preparation of ingredients:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Butter and flour a cake pan.
- Preparation of the dough:
- In a large bowl, beat the soft butter with the brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs , one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the vanilla extract and grated orange zest .
- Incorporation of dry ingredients:
- In another bowl, sift the 00 flour , baking powder , cinnamon , nutmeg and ginger .
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the milk , starting and ending with the flour.
- Adding extras:
- Add the dark chocolate chips and, if desired, the chopped walnuts .
- Cooking:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and level the surface.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cooling and decoration:
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
- Once cooled, sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
