Ingredients
- 3 apples (preferably sweet and ripe)
- 2 oranges (juice and zest)
- Cinnamon powder (as you like)
- Lemon juice (1 tablespoon)
- Water (to taste, for cooking)
Instructions
- Preparing the apples: Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into cubes.
- Preparation of oranges: Grate the zest of the oranges, avoiding the bitter white pith. Squeeze the juice and set aside.
- Initial Cooking: In a large saucepan, combine the apple cubes, grated orange zest, orange juice, and lemon juice. Add enough water to lightly cover the fruit.
- Adding Cinnamon: If desired, sprinkle on a pinch of cinnamon powder to enhance the flavor.
- Cooking: Bring to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft and liquid has reduced.
- Blending: Use an immersion blender to achieve a smooth consistency. If you prefer a jam with fruit pieces, blend only partially.
- Checking the consistency: To check the consistency, pour a small amount onto a cold saucer. If it does not drip, the jam is ready; otherwise, continue cooking for a few minutes.
- Jarring: Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1 cm from the rim. Seal tightly and turn the jars upside down to create a vacuum.
