This fermented drink, creamy and easy to prepare at home, is an excellent probiotic that helps digestion and reinforces the body’s defenses. In Turkish, kefir means “blessing” and has been consumed for millennia in the Caucasus region.

The granules used to ferment milk and the resulting drink are called kefir. The granules are used to ferment fresh milk or water and sugar.

Milk kefir is rich in beneficial bacteria, calcium, protein and vitamin B12. One of the advantages of this drink is the fact that it contains little lactose, which is converted into lactic acid and prevents intolerances. Additionally, kefir grains contain about 400 million microorganisms per gram, more than half of which are Lactobacillus bacteria.

Kefir helps to regenerate the intestinal flora and is useful against indigestion, candidiasis, constipation and diarrhea, but also to stimulate the body’s defenses.
