Dreamy Creamy Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • Whole milk :  500 ml
  • Dark chocolate (60-70%):  120 g
  • Bitter cocoa powder :  20 g
  • Corn starch (maizena):  20 g
  • Sugar (granulated or cane):  20 g

Instructions

  • Preparation of ingredients:
    • Finely chop the dark chocolate to help it melt during cooking.
  • Mixing the dry ingredients:
    • In a bowl, combine the bitter cocoa powder , cornstarch and sugar . Mix thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  • Heating the milk:
    • Pour the whole milk into a saucepan and heat it over medium heat until it begins to simmer slightly. Avoid bringing it to a complete boil so as not to alter the flavor.
  • Incorporation of dry ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the hot milk, stirring constantly with a whisk to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Adding Chocolate:
    • Add the chopped dark chocolate to the mixture, continuing to stir until the chocolate has completely melted and the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
  • Cooking and thickening:
    • Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate reaches the desired consistency. For creamy hot chocolate , it should be thick but still pourable.
  • Service:
    • Pour the creamy hot chocolate into mugs and serve immediately. For an extra touch, garnish with whipped cream, a dusting of bitter cocoa or dark chocolate shavings .
