A delicious and quick idea to enjoy pizza without turning on the oven! Perfect as an appetizer or snack. Here’s how to prepare them!
Ingredients:
200 g of 00 flour 🌾
100 ml of warm water 💧
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt 🧂
1 teaspoon of baking powder (or brewer’s yeast) 🍞
200 g of tomato puree 🍅
150 g of grated mozzarella 🧀
Dried oregano to taste 🌿
Peppers, olives or other condiments to taste 🌶️
Method:
Prepare the dough:
In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast and salt. Add the water and oil, kneading until you get a smooth and homogeneous mixture. Let rest for 15 minutes.
Roll out the dough:
On a floured surface, roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is about 5 mm thick. Cut out long strips (tongues) with a knife or a wheel.
Pan frying:
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook the pizza tongues for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
Seasoning:
Spread a little tomato sauce on each tongue, add mozzarella, oregano and seasonings to taste. Cover the pan for 2-3 minutes, just long enough for the cheese to melt.
Serving:
Serve the pizza tongues hot and crispy, perhaps accompanied by a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil!
