A tasty, healthy and flavourful vegetarian dish! Perfect as a side dish or as a main course for a light dinner.
Ingredients:
๐ฅฆ 1 large cauliflower
๐งด 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
๐ถ๏ธ 1 teaspoon paprika
๐ง 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 clove fresh garlic, minced)
๐ง Salt and black pepper to taste
๐ฑ Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the cauliflower:
Wash the cauliflower and remove the outer leaves.
Cut the cauliflower into 1.5-2 cm thick slices, trying to keep the “steaks” intact. The smaller pieces can be set aside to roast separately.
Season the steaks:
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic), salt, and pepper.
Generously brush each side of the cauliflower slices with the oil and spice mixture.
To cook in a skillet:
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the cauliflower slices in the hot skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy on the outside but still tender on the inside.
To serve:
Arrange the cauliflower steaks on a serving platter.
Sprinkle with chives or fresh parsley for a touch of freshness and color.
Optional: Serve your cauliflower steaks with a sauce of your choice, such as yogurt sauce or hot sauce, or serve with grilled vegetables for an extra filling meal!
Tip: If you want to give it an even tastier touch, you can add some grated cheese (such as Parmesan or Pecorino) in the last few minutes of cooking to melt it over the cauliflower.
This dish is ideal for those looking for a light but tasty dinner, or as an accompaniment to a meat or fish dish.
