As we know, the bathroom is an environment prone to various problems, including bad odors, moisture, and mold. Not to mention the shower, which is constantly exposed to water.
One area that is particularly susceptible to mold growth is the silicone seal of the shower cubicle, which even tends to blacken.
So, how does it work? With that in mind, today we’ll gather some homemade and natural ingredients to remove mold from shower grout and clean it like never before!
Vinegar
The first remedy we recommend could not be vinegar, already known by our grandmothers for its cleaning, stain-removing and degreasing properties, very useful in ecological cleaning of the house.
Now all you have to do is pour 3 volumes of vinegar and the rest of the water into a spray bottle and then spray the resulting mixture onto the “black” at the connection point of your shower cubicle.
Now let it sit for a while, then gently scrub it with an old toothbrush or a non-abrasive sponge. Finally, rinse, and you’re done!
Citric acid:
As an alternative to vinegar, you can also use citric acid, a natural descaler that can not only help you remove mold from your shower but also remove limescale deposits! Remember, it’s actually used as a dishwasher cleaner!
Next, mix 150 grams of citric acid with 1 liter of water, pour it all into a spray bottle, and spray generously onto the mold. Let it work, then brush away the dirt and rinse: your shower will be like new!
Lemon:
After vinegar and citric acid, how can we overlook the beloved lemon, the citrus fruit with so many properties? As if that weren’t enough, it can also imbue your bathroom with an intoxicating fragrance!
Next, squeeze the juice of one lemon and pour it onto a cloth or cotton ball. Then, place the soaked swab or rag along the entire grout line or on the areas where the black stain is present and let it sit for about an hour. Finally, rinse with water and wipe with a sponge to remove any remaining residue—the mold will be nothing more than a bad memory!
Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
Another remedy for stubborn mold that won’t go away is the use of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, which, while not exactly environmentally friendly, is environmentally friendly.
Next, pour one cup of hydrogen peroxide and two tablespoons of baking soda into a spray bottle and shake to mix the ingredients. For even more effectiveness, you can also add a few drops of tea tree oil.
Then, spray the resulting mixture onto the shower seal, let it work for a few moments, and rinse. Repeat the process if necessary. Finally, wipe with a dry cloth to remove any residue. Remember that hydrogen peroxide can also be used to remove mold from walls!
Anti-Mold Mixture:
Is the mold still not gone from the shower seal? Don’t worry, because we have the solution for you: the Anti-Mold Mixture, which combines the properties of several ingredients into a truly super-effective product! So, equip yourself with:
400 ml water
2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide
1 tablespoon fine salt
2 tablespoons baking powder
Cotton to taste
Simply add the baking soda and salt to a pot of water, bring it to a boil, and then add the hydrogen peroxide. Wait until the mixture is hot to avoid burning yourself, then completely immerse the cotton balls or cotton pads in the solution.
Place them, without squeezing them, as a barrier where mold has formed and let them sit for about an hour. Finally, move the balls around and rinse them: The mold in your shower will be nothing more than a bad memory!
Warnings:
We remind you to test the above remedies on inconspicuous areas to ensure you don’t damage the shower. If you have a marble or natural stone shower, do not use vinegar, lemon, or citric acid, as these can cause corrosion.
