Can you grow an avocado on the balcony? It seems impossible, however, growing an avocado in a pot is not that difficult because it can be done simply by starting the seed inside the fruit. Nothing could be simpler and now let’s see together 3 different ways to germinate it before burying it.

The avocado plant is one of the most sought after and talked about houseplants out there. Avocado crops are often at the center of discussions about the fact that their cultivation is not considered sustainable if it does not come from Italian regions. However, this fruit is so loved and adored by many that they prefer it spread on a slice of toast or in a good salad with salmon. But if we want to try to grow it at home as many are trying to do, there is no need to fear, it just takes a lot of patience. We have three methods to choose from, let’s see them together

Recycling a plastic bottle

First, let’s extract the seed from the avocado and clean the excess pulp with a sponge and water. Then we peel it and it is ready to be germinated. With a small bottle to recycle Let’s take a plastic bottle to recycle and cut it in half. At this point, we turn the neck part over and insert it into the second half. We fill with water until the level is at the lower limit. Next we place the core of our avocado with the widest part facing down and therefore in contact with the water. In this way we will let our seed germinate, we just have to wait and when we notice that the water recedes, we add more. Leave it exposed to the sun.

with chopsticks

If we don’t want to use a bottle, we take chopsticks. We are going to insert them into the core slightly bent upwards, on each side. Only three will be enough. In this way we will have obtained a support for our seed that will hold it above the water. We fill the glass and let it soak (always only the bottom part). Then we put it in the sun.

With a plastic bag to recycle

We take a jar and put some soil in it. Then we introduce our seed and leave it uncovered only from half onwards. We spray and then cover with a plastic bag to create our own personal greenhouse effect at home. This way, when the plant is exposed to the sun, it will always remain moist and when the soil is dry, we will have to water it again!
