Is it possible to grow an orchid without roots? Here is the method you must follow to make it reborn and make it flourish again. You absolutely should not throw it away.
The orchid is a plant that does not require much care and is therefore usually found in homes as an ornamental plant. Certainly, however, care must be taken, otherwise our orchid will die and it will not be easy to recover it. To do this, commit to following the little secrets you need to have a healthy and flourishing orchid.
First of all, position, temperature and sun exposure are very important. That is why it is advisable to place the orchid in a place in the house where there are no drafts and where there are no radiators. Then we recommend a temperature around 20°C and finally light not directly from the sun.
Then watering is also very important, the plant must always be moist, not dry and not full of water. If these small steps are not followed, the plant can have consequences, flowers that fall, leaves that turn yellow and rotten roots that must be irremediably cut . We will move on to see this last case, which is growing an orchid without roots .
This is what to do when you have an orchid without roots
When you have an orchid with rotten roots, it is better to cut them than leave them there. To do this, the first thing to do is remove the orchid from the pot and cut all the rotten roots with scissors . In case you have to delete all of them, don’t worry and do it. In fact, there is a way to regrow completely healthy roots and now we are going to see it.
Once you have completely cut its roots, also remove the branches and cut the base where the roots attach well . At this point you can pour turmeric or cinnamon on the latter to disinfect the area and prevent it from getting moldy.
The procedure will go further than it normally does. Usually the roots are poured into water, but this time we will pour the leaves into water . Just take a glass, absolutely transparent since the light has to pass through, and put the leaves inside with about 4 or 5 centimeters of water. To avoid dropping the root, just help yourself with a toothpick.
At this point, all you have to do is wait. In the first 15 days you will see very small lumps and therefore it means that the method is working . You will start to see roots of a few inches within 3 to 4 months. Always remember to add water when you finish the glass.
When the roots reach about 6 inches long, it is time to repot your orchid . This orchid will have a hard time holding on to the ground so we will use more products to plant it: clay balls, pine bark and moss to speed up rooting.
We always take a plastic cup and make incisions in the bottom as if it were a vase. We added clay balls to the bottom that will help with drainage, then cut pine and moss . At this point, spray the moss liberally with a spray and add the orchid. Finally add more pine bark. Here is your reborn orchid.
