My “homemade” taralli

My “homemade” taralli

Simple, crunchy and super tasty! Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

🌾 500 g of flour 0
🫒 120 g of olive oil (for a touch of flavor)
🍷 120 ml of warm white wine (which will give fragrance to the taralli!)
💧 80 ml of warm water
🧂 15 g of salt
🌿 2 tablespoons of fennel seeds (if you love them, add a pinch of black pepper for an extra kick!)

Method:

Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the salt, the fennel seeds and mix well.
Combine the olive oil and the warm white wine, then add the water a little at a time until you get a smooth and compact dough.
Knead well with your hands until you form a smooth ball. If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour.
Divide the dough into small portions and form thin “cylinders”. Join them in the shape of a ring to create the taralli!
Cook in salted water: bring a pot with water and salt to the boil. Immerse the taralli and boil them for a few minutes (until they rise to the surface).
Dry them well on a clean cloth and let them rest for about half a day.

Cooking:

Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Bake the taralli on a baking tray lined with baking paper for about 30 minutes. Be careful not to burn them! If necessary, lower the temperature towards the end of cooking for a perfect result.
Let the taralli cool on a rack to make them even crispier.

Pro tip:
For an extra touch, try sprinkling the taralli with chopped rosemary or sesame seeds before baking!
