Nocino or “Padre Peppe” ancient Altamura recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 liter of 95-degree alcohol;
  • 13 green walnuts;
  • 600 ml of water;
  • 400 g of sugar;
  • 1 Nutmeg;
  • 1 cinnamon stick;
  • 4-5 cloves

STEP

  1. Slice or crush the walnuts;
  2. Infuse them in alcohol inside a hermetically sealed container, leaving them in the dark until Christmas;
  3. After the necessary time has passed, add the crushed nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves;
  4. Stir often for a few days (5 days to be precise);
  5. When the time comes, pass everything through the appropriate press;
  6. Prepare a syrup with the water and sugar and add it to the pressed product;
  7. Leave to mature for a few weeks before filtering.
  8. Bottle and let the Nocino rest for as long as possible;
  9. A great liqueur to taste.. try it!!
